1) Could you please give us a little introduction and tell us about your first experience with modeling?
Hello, I'm Amy Taylor, a model now in my 40s. My journey into modeling began unexpectedly when I was a teenager, when a photographer in a mall asked me to pose for a local clothing brand project. Luckily he was the real thing, not a creep (my father ensured my safety on set, thankfully), and I soon discovered a newfound love for expressing myself through visual art. Currently, I'm based in Manhattan, enjoying the diverse opportunities the entertainment industry offers.
2) What was your first job as a model? How did it feel?
My first modeling job was a small local campaign for a boutique clothing brand in Northern California, quickly followed by runway shows at city events and stores. The first shoot was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. Stepping in front of the camera for the first time brought a mix of excitement and vulnerability. Seeing the final images, however, was incredibly rewarding and fueled my passion for modeling.
3) Besides modeling, what else are you passionate about?
Beyond modeling, I'm passionate about promoting self-confidence and body positivity, especially for men and women in their 40s and beyond. I believe in embracing every stage of life and encouraging others to feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. When we love ourselves, we’re more open to others…there’s room for everyone, and it’s important to me to counter the nastiness of a narrow definition of desirability by showing that mother nature, and we humans, actually love diversity.
4) Is there anyone in the modeling industry you look up to? Who?
One person in the modeling industry whom I greatly admire is Maye Musk. She's not only a stunning model but also an advocate for diversity and inclusivity. Her commitment to breaking stereotypes and promoting a positive body image is truly inspiring. Beauty knows no age, and mature humans are cool as heck!
5) What do you value most in a photographer who collaborates with you?
The most important quality I value in a photographer is his or her ability to create a comfortable and collaborative atmosphere. A great photographer understands the importance of teamwork and respects the other crew members’ and my input, creating a space where creativity can flourish organically. And they’re far more fun!
6) What are your goals for your modeling career? Do you have any upcoming projects you want to share?
My goals in my modeling and entertainment career revolve around challenging societal norms regarding age and beauty. I aspire to continue breaking barriers and inspiring men and women to embrace their uniqueness. While I can't disclose specific upcoming projects at the moment, I'm excited about potential collaborations that align with my mission of empowering men and women in their 40s and beyond.
