CALEB SCHAFTLEIN,
My name is Megan Pamela, I grew up in Binghamton, NY. I started my photography journey tearing out photos from my favorite Rolling Stones magazines and tacking them to the walls of my bedroom for inspiration as a teenager. I started taking photos of my friends back in the days of Myspace. From there, I bought my first Nikon kit camera with my first paycheck and continued to practice and play with photoshop to get me where I am today in my creative process! I love the work of many photographers, but I love to follow strong female photographers that work hard in this industry to stand out and create beautiful imagery to inspire and invoke feeling with photographic stills.
I love working with and meeting new individuals and working with many different creatives. I love the feeling when I show the back of my camera to whomever I’m working with to see the expression on their faces. It’s like they just KNOW how amazing they look, and just gives them that extra boost of confidence. I’ve met some incredible artists in my journey, and it’s just an incredible experience overall. Getting that photo when you know you’ve just GOT the SHOT that you cannot wait to get home and upload and edit. That definitive moment where you know you’ve captured something incredible. It’s such an otherworldly feeling.
I love photographing people in their own element. Bringing out the individual’s personality in each photograph, while also adding my own spin to it to create a level of sensuality without being overtly sexualized is something I definitely focus on. I want people to stop and really look at my images and get a sense of my work, but also a sense of the person in my images. Having fun, while also building great relationships along the way. It’s a lifelong journey I’m proud to be on!
I definitely would like to expand with more publications, get my name out there, and work with more and more creatives nationally and internationally. I have so many projects in the pipeline, but along the way, I have been jotting down projects to create different mood boards to share with the right people. It’s a non-stop flurry of creativity!
I absolutely love Lindsay Adler and Lara Jade. They are not only badasses in the fashion industry, but also take time to help photographers with providing so many educational tools I personally have used to better and perfect my process. As I always say, never stop learning! There’s always room for growth!
Rachel and I have worked together before and quickly became friends. We developed a mood board together, as I like to have full collaborative effort on both sides so we agree on the looks we’re going for. We found this INCREDIBLE space at the Loft in Flatiron in NYC, and from there, I styled the outfits for the shoot from the mood board and sent them over to her for approval. I brought my Profoto and Westcott lighting gear with me and used different lighting styles to create a sensual mood for the look to keep it on key with the style.
Currently working on several projects for different creatives in NYC, as I build different shoot sets to embody each individual style while keeping it in a way where if someone were to look at it they can say “oh yeah, that’s Megan Pamela’s work!”
